A MERRY TERRARIUM

I really enjoy making handmade gifts. I haven't been able to make as many this year with the busyness but i did put together these terrariums for the awesome ladies i work with. You can get really creative with what you put inside. I went with a woodland theme but you could also put a tiger in there with a bow on his neck, anything goes! - Lesley

SUPPLIES:

1. A vessel. I found these killer tippy terrarium jars from the beautiful Terrain.
2. Charcoal
3. Pebbles/Rocks/Pea Gravel
4. Soil and Cactus soil
5. Sand, I used black sand.
6. Moss
7. Fun objects like berries, animals, trees, and mushrooms.
8. Succulents or indoor plants.

METHOD:

Start with a clean vessel and begin by carefully putting the charcoal on the bottom. I found mine at my local nursery. The charcoal helps maintain a happy environment for the plants and keeps the jar from smelling bad. Bonus! After putting in the charcoal I placed in order: the white pearl stones, then dirt, then black sand, then cactus soil, then the plants. I then watered in the plants and tucked their roots into the soil. Next I tucked the moss around the plants and topped off the terrarium with an adorable deer, hand painted mushroom ( I used one of the pegs left over from the nativity and painted the top red with white polka dots), a tree that I spray painted white to make it look flocked and then sprinkled it with glitter. To top off the festive garden-in-a-jar I used a sprig of fake holly berries. The berries I found at Hobby Lobby, the trees and deer were found at Hobby Town.

ps If you are reading this post I would like to give you a big virtual high five. Thanks for putting up with changes while I get my bearings! xo
