GIRLS' SHARED ROOM TOUR

So, this week I am talking about finalizing nursery details. This was a big undertaking lemme tell ya, but this list kept me accountable to get the job done! Sam was thrilled that we spent all of Labor Day toiling away (he just loves my projects) and the good news is... we're still married! Jokes aside, love that man. Thank you for putting up with me Sam and for making my weekend wishes come true. One of the biggest problems with two little girls sharing this room was the tiny and I mean tiny closet. As you can see from the before picture that basically I shoved all of their belongings in and hoped for the best. I put all of the baby's clothes in shopping bags and held my breath. My goal was to add another rack for clothes, a place to store diapers and essentials, and to give each girl two drawers of the dresser. I am SO pleased to say... mission accomplished!

Here's what we did:

Added a 3 ft rack below the 6 ft top rack. We ended up buying something similar to this and having it cut. Home Depot can cut it on the spot.

We then attached five stackable hanging baskets over to the far right for diapers, swaddling blankets, wipes, etc. In the space below is their toy bin. I'm obsessed with these. They're sturdy and much cleaner looking than other options if you have wire shelving.

We moved the six-cube storage unit above the shelving so that it wasn't eating up valuable hanging space. We folded sweaters, leggings, knit dresses, etc and then used the other cubbies for out of season shoes and cold weather gear.

An over-the-door shoe organizer now holds in season shoes, hair accessories, kitchen accessories, etc.

We used a wire basket from Ikea to hold the next size batch of baby clothes.

That's it! I love looking in there. It's such a breath of fresh air. For all of the toys, art supplies, games, and dress-up clothes that were thrown in there, we used these great boxes from Ikea that fit perfectly under Matilda's bed. now for the room tour... I don't really know what my style is, but I wanted something more modern and clean for their room. Slightly Scandinavian with vintage touches. You always want a room to reflect personality, don't you think? Matilda absolutely loves playing with her tiny kitchen. This amazing vintage Babar print was a gift from my sweet friend Brittany and just yesterday Matilda spelled out alphabet. That little smarty is learning so much and growing so fast. I got this BlaBla mobile from their big sample sale and I'm obsessed with the pink horse. I wanted her crib to be really simple and modern. Not a lot of fuss. This lady bug sheet was a gift from a dear friend. I love them. The rocking horse was a gift for my mama made by my great grandfather. A total treasure. Also, I selfishly scooped up that horse and donkey from seed factory because I had to have them. Story time is such a special part of our day that I wanted to pay even more homage to our favorite books. We used 6" and 8" l-brackets as the shelves and placed the books right on top. Now to see that little baby in there... I can't wait! I've pinned most of the resources here if you're curious.
