March Reno Update

the delft tiles that we will use on our fireplace surround

We made some major headway in March! The footings were poured, the addition framing began, the roof and decking began, the front porch got ripped off and rebuilt. My delft tiles arrived!!!

Now I’m starting to think about the addition and the design. The addition includes a mudroom that will also have a pantry in it, a laundry room, the primary bedroom as well as the primary bathroom. I want to get ahead mentally with an idea of what we want for each space so that I can answer and direct during the roughing in process (plumbing and electrical). Here are some inspiration photos for each space:

primary suite

For our bedroom this photo is the absolute inspiration. After seeing this home in one of my favorite coffee table books I have not been able to get it out of my head (for two houses now!). We are doing exposed vaulted ceilings as well as a fireplace and the exact same bed wall. LOVE.

primary bath

For our bathroom I’m mixing things up quite a bit from the last two homes where I did a clawfoot tub and freestanding soaking tub. This time I want to create a nook for the tub aka an alcove as well as be more intentional with storage and for the first time, heated tiles. For out anniversary the hotel had heated tiles in the bathroom and it was HEAVENLY. I absolutely ADORE this mustard millwork and entire design. We will have a shower closet that we added a window to as well as a toilet closet.

boot room

Country houses call for a “boot room,” aka a mud room. So much dirt, dust, etc and we wouldn’t have it any other way but it calls for a boot rack, hooks for hats and jackets, storage, I think I’m going to have Chief’s dog bowls in here and our pantry built in as well. It will be a hard working space!

laundry room

I absolutely love this photo but we won’t have a window but we will have a nice square layout. I think I’ll put an oversized farm sink in with uppers and lowers as well as a utility closet for vacuums and brooms and a hanging rod. Trying to think through as much as I can so we get the details that will make the home function well.

That’s it for now! Looking forward to seeing it all come to life! XO
