HEALTHY PREGNANCY/ 05

I know that getting to a gym isn't happening for me right now, so in an effort to stay fit I've been doing these workout videos at home. I do think there is something to be said about corporate workouts, because you definitely push yourself more, but if you don't have that option either...

Here are some tried and true prenatal workout dvds:

  • Getty heiress Anna Getty's Pre and Post Prenatal Yoga Workout is a good place to start. Anna is extremely calming, as are her routines which helps prepare mothers for a gently and peaceful birth experience. Bonus: Mark Ruffalo's wife, Sunrise, makes an appearance.

  • You know, there's something to be said about Denise Austin's perkiness. I remember workin' it out with her in middle school. That lady hasn't aged! Her Fit and Firm Pregnancy DVD combines strength training and cardio and when I do both sections together, I feel like I get a really good workout!

  • Shiva Rea's Prenatal Yoga is a great way to unwind and stretch and I really like the combination of floor and standing work, the only thing I have to get past are the floor length unitards. I mean, who thought that was a good idea?

Tracy Anderson, trainer to the stars, is so hardcore. I tried to do her post pregnancy dvd after Matilda and struggled. She's definitely doing something right, though. This is a little video she put together for Fit Sugar. I love that she's pregnant in it and that it focuses on tonin' the rear.

What are your go-to prenatal workout dvds?

As always consult your doctor before attempting any of these workouts.
