The Giving Kitchen + Team Hidi 2.0
I've written this post in my head so many times now that I don't even know where to start. This thursday one of my closest friends, Jen, lost her husband Ryan to cancer. To say that our community has been rocked by Ryan's diagnosis, life, and death doesn't come close to the truth. The last year and a couple of weeks have been an emotional roller coaster for friends and family as Ryan's health improved and declined. It has been over a year of heart wrenching conversations, tight hugs, and tears. Through all of this... the grace, dignity, and strength of the Hidingers inspired any one that was touched by their story. They took tragedy and created something beautiful that will benefit others in Ryan's honor for years and years to come.
Jen and Ryan have spent the last several years working tirelessly towards their dream of opening a restaurant. They started a supper club, Prelude to Staplehouse that was just that... an introduction to the type of food that Staplehouse would serve. I will never forget spending Valentine's Day in their home and the care that Ryan and Jen took to make the night unforgettable. I will miss that man. The dream will soon become a reality as Staplehouse opens some time this year. All of the profits from Staplehouse will go to The Giving Kitchen, a non-profit that will provide grants to those in the service industry that face emergency situations.
This is Ryan's legacy. I am so proud of them. Ryan was an amazing person and I want to do everything in my power to support his dream and his family. I don't often use this space as a platform for causes, but this is near and dear to my heart. I will be attending the benefit on the 26th and would love to see some of you there. It will be a very special and celebratory night that I know Ryan will be a part of in spirit. If you can't come, consider making a donation or lifting the family and foundation up in prayer. Thank you.
