First Day of Kindergarten + Lunch Box 01
This morning was Matilda's first day of school. School. At first I was a little teary but distracted by all the chaos of families going in and out and with taking care of Phoebe. We came back here and had a short walk with friends and then I put Phoebe down for a nap. Now the house is quiet and I've stared at this picture above for most of the morning (you may have already seen it on instagram - Bee's face kills me!). Just. Can't. Believe. It. I love the way she posed for her first day, pretty sure it was so I could capture her back pack and lunch box (which you can find here and here). Oh, I love her.
I'm sort of obsessed with packing amazing, healthy lunches for Til. My goal is to have her help me the afternoon before so that she knows how to fix nutritious meals and I just thought it would be fun and make her want to eat what she helped with? That's my hope. To keep her food cold I ordered this really slim freezer pack that works perfectly with this lunchbox, slides right in the mesh pocket. I also froze her apple sauce to use to keep everything cold. Can't remember where I saw that trick but I thought it was genius!
I didn't want to do a bento because a lot of them don't have handles but I love this stainless steel lunchbots container that is big enough for a little sandwich and some snacks. I used these muffin liners to hold cut up fruit and veggies (apple + cucumber). I tossed the apple in some lemon juice. Matilda used a star cookie cutter and made her own GF sandwich with Maranatha peanut butter (the best!) and organic jelly. We also tossed in her gummy vitamins and a fruit leather.
Taking a few breaths and trying not to get too emotional. Just dying to hear about her first day. Excited to come up with other fun lunches to share. It will keep me motivated to be creative. Also, you can find Matilda's dress here. I think I'm going to order it in navy too. Such a cute fit!:)twitter/ facebook/ pinterest/ instagram/ bloglovin'
