Autumn Harvest Shower

Yesterday I hosted a wedding shower with my mama and sister for my cousin Leah! She is getting married in less than three weeks and we wanted to do something special for her and her fiance, Jimmy. Because Leah's favorite season is fall we thought it would be fun to put on an "Autumn Harvest Shower" where guests showered them with tools and garden accessories. For the party we went with a theme of all things pumpkin, harvest, apples, rustic, etc. We started with corals and mustards and added in cheery orange and chocolate brown. It was such a fun afternoon! We are so excited for the happy couple.

I really wanted there to be a special element that guests would see right when they walked in. My sister Rachel did the hand lettering and we echoed the flower fans with the chalk flowers which I love the way she drew the flowers to look like mums. We also have under stair storage that is less than pretty so we covered it with kraft paper and some of my favorite wrapping paper to create a "back drop." I taped the

all over the top to frame the

.

My mom made her own spin on these

pumpkin bites

by adding an extra 1/2 a can of pumpkin, baking them in a square baking pan for 30 min at 350, then topping with coconut flakes and baking at 300 for 10 min. SO good.

We had originally planned on hosting most of the party on

the patio

but weather had other plans. We set up "the harvest" in our dining room with a spread of rustic desserts, seasonal vegetables, fruit and some of our favorite dips.

Rachel made the most incredible apple cobbler (one of the hits of the party for sure) and we displayed a store-bought cherry pie on my favorite

milk glass cake plate

. We served both warm with vanilla ice cream.

While I was getting ready Mama whipped up our go-to party side:

warm artichoke dip with green onions

. If we're friends, most likely you've had it. We NEVER go home with leftovers. We served it with lentil crackers and crusty bread. The artichokes were just for decoration. Aren't they so gorgeous? Nature is by far the best table decoration in my opinion.

My mom scooped up these "hearts of fire" proteas and they were a hot topic. The colors were so perfect for the party. Rachel divided the bouquets to add height variety and texture. We used a brass planter, a short wooden vase and this skinny amber vase. It was really lovely in person.

For on the main wall and the table we used these really lovely

natural lotka banners

. They have the prettiest paper texture and really brought a festive element to the room. I think I'll leave them up.

I shared the

invitations on friday

but wanted to have a photo here as well. Just loved them. We used this fun

table runner

(which can be wiped down and used again!) and it really brought that touch of fall without it being cheesy or over the top. You can also personalize it!

Another hit of the party was this spinach dip that my mom served in a carved out red cabbage. It turned out so pretty. We served all of the nuts, cheeses, fruits on a cutting board to give it a really natural, harvest feel. Pumpkins aren't quite out yet but we got lucky with these pie pumpkins.

It's so wonderful getting to see the people you love fall in love. Congrats Jimmy and Leah!
