Movember Beard Oil + Balm
Happy Movember! In case you don't know Movember is an annual event where men grow out their moustaches (and/or beards) during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer and other male cancers. In honor of this manly month Sam and I wanted to do a post on all things facial hair. I love when Sam gets excited about doing a post for the blog. Not often we get to collaborate on things specifically for him. ;)
Sam is obsessed recently with beard oils + balms and they definitely aren't cheap. He was determined to make his own. Just so turns out his wife has an awesome stash of essential oils to contribute to the cause.
Beard Oil
You will need:
- Essential oils (we used Cedarwood + Lavender)
- A glass bottle with dropped lid (with used these)
Fill up dropper with 1/3 of each oil and we used 15 drops each of lavender and cedarwood. Use to condition the skin under the facial hair before adding balm. Cedarwood and lavender both promote hair growth and are wonderful for the skin!
Our little helper. :)
Beard Balm
You will need:
- 1 tsp bee's wax
- 1 tsp Shea butter
- 1 tsp Jojoba oil
- 1 tsp from cocoa butter sticks
- Metal tins (we used these)
- Essential oils - we used Thieves + Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree Oil)
Begin by melting the wax, cocoa butter and shea butter in the candlemaking pitcher. Pour warm mixture into metal tin and then add about 10 drops of each essential oil. Thieves has a really warm, clove smell that is also great for boosting the immune system and Maleleuca Alternifolia is a great disinfecting oil, perfect for tending to any irritated skin. Stir with a wooden skewer and let harden. This wax-y texture allows your guy to groom his hairs in any style that he chooses.
These would make such great gifts + stocking stuffers too! Sam will be able to make about 10 for the price he paid for one. I have a feeling he will be busy this weekend. Happy Movember! If you're interested in getting your own oils at 24% off click here. xx
