Our Victory Garden
We are starting a vegetable garden in our backyard. Our first step in urban homesteading. As we face uncertain times, the simple joys of growing your own food and gardening as a family are a primary focus. Sam and I used to grow our own food and then life got busy and we forgot who we were. Getting back to our roots! Feels so good and the weather has been perfect for it.
GARDEN DAY ONE - Gardening is amazing exercise, good for the soul, stress reducing, and so satisfying! We are in Georgia (zone 7b) and while it was a bit early the weather has been unseasonably warm so Sam built a cedar raised bed (so much easier to control the soil this way) in a sunny spot.
He filled the bed with Organic soil + manure + mushroom compost.
We planted peppers πΆ, cauliflower, cabbage π₯¬, and eggplant π.
We are starting from seed indoors: Parsley, Basil, Cilantro, Rainbow π Swiss Chard, Kale π₯¬, Spring Onions, Chives.
If you are worried about food do what you can to help and this was our first step.
