March Farm Update
Our first time seeing The Farm in the spring. We have been poking around and looking at buds and guessing what the plants were for the past couple of months. A magical gift of buying the property in the winter is that we get to see the farm come to life for the first time each month. God truly took my breath away with these Saucer Magnolias. There are six of them around the front of the Stone House.
We worked on several projects this week including removing the trellis from the walk way to the party barn to allow the eye to take in all of the beautiful scenery. Sam and I were able to remove most of it ourselves but need a tractor to remove the posts. Like everything else in 2020/2021 it has been hard to track one down with all of the accessories we need.
This metal barn will get a front makeover and will become part general store, part mixed use space. We have loads of tables in there for classes, games, dining, as well as a garage door that opens to the back area with happy lights. We want to do some landscaping there and add some fire pits. This barn also have four toilets and two offices.
Although they are weeds, the fields look so beautiful covered in these purple flowers!
We brought our living room furniture up here to make it more comfortable. It’s a total game changer to have this space for relaxing at the end of the day. My little Harry Potter obsessed big girl.
The girls are not sure what to do while we are here but I keep reminding them how good it is to be bored - that’s when creativity is born!
Other things to mention, we had the stippled ceilings removed and smoothed so now they are ready for paint! We also put up temporary lights since we removed most of the lighting that was originally here. This kitchen will get a big overhaul but I’m thankful for the space and amazing natural light that floods each room.
We have been doing lots of nature walks and so far have discovered several different daffodils, roses, crepe myrtles, dogwoods, autumn sedum, creeping jenny, and we worked to kill off the ivy from the big tree in front of the Stone House. Below is a little potting shed that also houses the well.
Happy Sunday friends!
