February Reno Update

Popping in with a reno update! It has been a while. I share weekdays here but I want to have actual posts to look back on. As anyone knows that is on this same path, renos are challenging in every way - throw in covid, supply chain, etc and it is next level crazy. Truly. So if you are considering a reno right now… maybe wait. Ha!

We discovered brick under the stone fireplace and thought we could use it but ultimately it presented too many challenges and I’m all about the easier path these days. I ordered the most beautiful delft tiles that are currently stuck in Paris that will go around the fireplace surround and then we will have a wooden mantle. The wallpaper I ordered arrived (2/3 anyways) and this room will be wrapped in one of my favorite papers, with cream trim and ceilings and a green bookcase.

The kitchen is moving along, you can see more updates here and here.

A peek at the bedrooms, one will serve as a guest room and the girls will share the other one until they are ready for their own spaces. We redid the sheetrock completely in the back bedroom and have replaced and updated all of the trim. We added a chair rail molding that is pretty deep to use as a picture ledge and then wallpaper will go above that. The new fans are in and I love them!!

We had to rip out the attic stairs to add the hvac to the attic so we had that replaced. I want to do a family photo gallery wall here. All of the floors are original (minus the kitchen). We will have them all sanded down and stained to match.

We raised the ceiling on the front porch and uncovered shiplap under the stone that was originally here. We want to turn this into a sleeping porch so we can squeeze more friends and family in. We also have casement windows that will surround the porch, a sofa height wall that will break up the windows, and new front double doors. I cannot wait to sit here one day and drink iced tea and look at the big oak trees out front.

So there you have it! We have graders here today and framing for the addition starts tomorrow. Cannot believe it!! Thank you for loving us through this crazy time of transition.
