TIPS FOR MOMS
Let me tell you a little story. When I first started out blogging, I was terrified of being classified as a waitforit "mommy blogger." I tried everything in my power to be hip and do recipes and crafts, etc. I even went as far as to be on a forum of "blogs about heritage" when speaking at a blogging conference because I didn't want to be on the mommy blogger panel. All the while being oblivious of the fact that I was indeed just that. I still don't love the title, but I might as well embrace it. I write what I know.
This is leading up to the title, promise. I want to start sharing tips + tricks that work for me as a work from home mom (or just mom in general). I'm certainly not perfect and I'm getting better each day (some days more so than others) and I for sure couldn't do any of it without some help. I also want to hear from you! What makes your days run a little smoother? As my friend Rachel says... it takes a village.
My personal tip #1:
WAKE UP EARLY. A wise friend once told me that she gives herself an hour in the morning and then her kids. Use this time to bathe (if you must - kidding), work, return emails, feel cute, fill out preschool paper work, etc. It will make you less stressed and more prepared for when that little cutie gets up. Sometimes we have an early wake up call, so be ready for that. Try not to procrastinate too much just in case.
My favorite thing to do is put on a pot of coffee, take a deep breath, and dive into whatever I need to tackle that morning. I know some people are night owls and could do the same thing then, but I work best when I'm fresh. I typically wake up at... 5:30.
Are you a morning girl or a lady of the night?
