COMMUNITY

I've written this post in my head about five times and then every time I sit down to blog it out it disappears. Let's roll with this. So, community. I think community is extremely important. I'm a people person. I feel so stir crazy if I sit inside all day and don't get out of the house to interact and fellowship in some way. Sam and I just joined a community group that I'm really excited about. We meet with other couples once a week and then we'll serve our community together and grow as friends and support and lift each other up. Right now we are sharing our stories and getting to know each other better. This can be super daunting... that whole pouring your heart out, being vulnerable thing is a tough one.

Something that I was sharing with a friend the other day at the park is that I want my daughters to understand and act out inclusiveness in their own "communities." I struggle with the notion of cliques and "besties." I seriously hate that word. I know people love it but let me just share my heart on why I have a distaste for it (I can hear Matilda now... "Mommy, don't say hate"). For me community is all about letting people in, working together for the common good, being a loving and embracing group of people. Even though I do have close, close friends that are my "best friends" I try not to shove that in any of my friends faces. You know? I want to love on all of my friends. All of this brings me to blogging. Sometimes it can feel a bit like high school and I've worked through that and don't care most days. What I don't like and what I hope to not ever do is to make someone feel like they're not cool enough to interact with. Ugh. I mean, I think it's important to respond to tweets, messages, etc. I hope that this space can be a place that feels comfy. It's my goal for the next year to really create community on my blog. I want people to make friends here and share ideas here and feel loved.

I also wanted to share with you a feature you may or may not have noticed. When you leave a comment now you can click on the "notify me" box so when people (or I) respond to your comment then you'll get a little heads up. I really appreciate getting to know you guys better and love that you take the time to be a part of this little blog. Thank you!
