ACORN SQUASH SOUP

This summer one of my biggest projects was working alongside a branding agency and web coder as a project manager of the lovely Annette Joseph's

new website

. The new design was in anticipation of her very exciting book launch. Annette and I met several years ago when I was working for Anthropologie and stayed in touch and now I'm her web manager. It's pretty amazing how connections can turn out. She's a total hoot and one talented lady that I'm happy to also call a friend. All of this brings me of course to

Picture Perfect Parties

, Annette's new book published by Rizzoli.

Her new cookbook is pretty unreal. The book takes you through 16 parties and has detailed instructions on how to plan, prepare, and execute not only the food but the decorations, presentation, etc. It is a wealth of Annette's experience in styling for 20+ years (she is a regular on the Today Show, in Better Homes and Gardens, Southern Living, and Atlanta Magazine to name a few). I have had the pleasure of attending several parties in Annette's home and her effortless hosting skills, gorgeous ideas and

amazing

recipes are brought to life in Picture Perfect Parties.

When scouring the pages I naturally gravitated  to the Thanksgiving story. It is fall after all. I've been on the hunt for another amazing soup recipe and saw this Acorn Squash Soup. Since Sam loves him some

Carrot Ginger Soup

, I thought this might be another fun one to add to the mix. I love it when I'm right. I've tasted Annette's soups before so I had a real good hunch that this would be a total winner.

I could not have been happier with the way that the soup turned out. Rich and full, the acorn squash turns to butter after roasting it. The cinnamon, ginger, and sage instantly take you to cozy sweaters and mittens (I actually did wear a sweater last night - love!). Sam and the girls all absolutely loved it. It also made lots of leftovers so if you're

meal planning

, this is a weekly rotation keeper.

We opted out of the delicious croutons but I'm sure they would make an incredible addition. We garnished ours with sage and a sprinkle of

real salt

. We also used an

immersion blender

immediately after cooking the soup, which is an option if you have one! Yum! You can enter to win a copy of the book on

Annette's blog

right now as well as a beautiful apron that was featured in this story. It really is such a fun addition to my cookbook collection and would make a really amazing hostess gift, right? I am going to be at her

book launch party at Room and Board

in Atlanta tonight. Would love to see you there!
