IN THE MAIZE
Last weekend we went with some friends to
. It was our first time in a corn maze. I loved it! We didn't make it through the phase (a little nervous about a. getting lost b. surviving a meltdown on a 3 mile maze) but we had to check it out. Corn mazes are so haunting and beautiful. The clouds went over just as we went in and I couldn't help but get a little overwhelmed by the correlation of the maze and life. Both the maze and our lives have a start and end but what is really aMAZEing (I just think I'm hilarious) is what happens on our path, the story.
On sunday the pastor (who Sam and I really love - we may have found a new home) began talking about prayer and how we often don't pray for things that we really want (ex for our back to stop aching, for a new rug, for more success) because we feel like these things are trivial. However, we continue to pursue them outside of God. We strive and toil and spend lots of time on achieving our hearts desires - but apart from Him. God may not give us all that we ask for, it's true, but He wants to know our dreams, what ails us, what we long for. He wants to be a part of all of our thoughts, not just the ones we think are "worthy" of praying for. Even the yucky bits (jealousy, bitterness), he wants those too. He can change us. Sam and I both thought this was an amazing discovery. I hope that this may stir something in you today too.
We are in a sweet spot right now with the girls. My Grammy always says that it takes a year to really welcome a new family member (I cannot believe that my baby will be one next month). Each day I have these carpe diem flashes. When I catch myself "outside of the moment" I'm reminded to snap to. It's a challenge in our modern world but so important, not only for our kids but for our marriages too.
Have you had any "aha" moments recently? Words of wisdom for mamas that want to live fully?
