HEALTHY PREGNANCY/ 10


This is kind of how I'm feeling these days. I just want to bury my face in a pillow and sleep. Sleep, glorious sleep. Can't seem to get enough. Today I thought it would be appropriate to talk about the importance of pampering yourself while you're pregnant. Unfortunately, I tend to self medicate and relax with food, er ice cream. I'm really working on unwinding with a walk, talking to a good friend (I'm lucky I got to experience this with four of my close friends this week), stretching, etc. Here are some of my ideas for healthy ways to pamper yourself:


  • Take a prenatal yoga class. Sometimes you have to work yourself up for this, especially if you work full-time or have other children. Schedule it in!

  • Make walking a part of your daily schedule. For me, in the south, it's so hot right now. I also have a seriously early wake up call so I'm hoping to start walking after dinner.
  • Get a prenatal massage. I sadly have never experienced a truly great massage. I think I have a hard time relaxing? If you are like me and would rather be in the privacy of your own home, have your husband give you a rub. I think Sam's massages are better than any of the professional ones that I've had.

  • Get a pedicure! This is one of my favorite indulgences, just make sure to bring your own polish and look for salons that use natural products.

  • Have a girls day. Go out to a nice lunch with a friend. Sometimes that is the best medicine.

  • Have a romantic date with your husband. Once that little baby comes, it's going to be a lot harder to get away, so line up that babysitter or pencil in a cute heart on your calendar for a date with your sweetie.
